Flex is a lump sum built into each of the meal plans. Though not real money, flex dollars may be used as a debit account for making additional food purchases at either the Boyd Dining Center or the Marlin Grill. Any balance left over in your Flex account will roll over from the fall to the spring semester. Unused balances at the end of the spring semester will not be refunded, so use your Flex dollars wisely!

Meal Equivalency is available in the Marlin Grill from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. At lunch, between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., students using a meal credit at Meal Equivalency have $3.50 to go towards a purchase at any of the 4 stations in the Marlin Grill. At dinner, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., students using a meal credit at Meal Equivalency have $3.75 to go towards a purchase at any of the 4 stations in the Marlin Grill.

Marlin Dollars are used just like Flex Dollars and may be purchased in the Business Office. Purchases made with Marlin Dollars are subject to Virginia Sales Tax. Unused Marlin dollars will remain in your account
